MALE PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY

Male Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Are you suffering from intense pain? Try out Acupuncture.

Everyone strives for a healthy, strong, and active lifestyle. However, it is not always easy to obtain, particularly for males with pelvic floor pain.

Pelvic Floor and Men’s Health Physiotherapy is a subspecialty of physiotherapy that works on male pelvic pain (chronic prostatitis) and pelvic organ dysfunction. At Milestone Physio & Wellness Clinic, we are trained in chronic pelvic pain therapy and men’s health physiotherapy, giving us a unique and adequate skill set to assess and diagnose pelvic problems.

Who Can Suffer From Pelvic Pain and Pelvic Floor Issues?

Simply anyone. Problems with the pelvis or the pelvic floor muscles can occur at any age. Pelvic issues become more common as we age. However, erectile dysfunction affects approximately 50% of men, with issues reported in their second decade, with an incidence of about 13%. A third of men over the age of 40 are said to have some form of urinary dysfunction. With such a high prevalence in the population, there is an urgent need to address this shortfall.

Pelvic pain or dysfunction is not limited to older, less active men. It is something that can happen to even the most athletic of people. Athletes and sportspeople may develop pelvic floor symptoms due to their activity. Hip and groin problems are common in amateur and elite football, and if not treated properly, they can lead to pelvic dysfunction or the development of Chronic Pelvic Pain.

What Causes Male Pelvic Floor Problems?

What Should I Expect?

Physical therapy for the pelvic floor is similar to other types of physical therapy. To begin, your therapist will learn about you! You will discuss your medical history, current lifestyle and symptoms, and goals with them. Second, your physical therapist will assess your strength and mobility by observing your movements. Your physical therapist may recommend a physical movement to exam test your pelvic floor muscles depending on your condition. Third, your physical therapist will discuss their findings and work with you to develop a treatment plan. Treatment plans typically include exercises, education, and other useful therapeutic modalities.

They will walk you through the exercises and can work with you in any location; you can continue your therapy at home. We will always look forward to helping our clients to get better. Finally, we want you to leave physical therapy feeling at ease, confident, and well-informed about your condition and treatment options.

Treatment Plan

Muscles in the human body can be rehabilitated and retrained. At Milestone Physio & Wellness Clinic, we are distinctively trained to identify pelvic floor dysfunction and treat it with the best regime of motor control exercises. New specialized manual therapy techniques will be used to reduce muscle sensitivity and facilitate appropriate muscle activation.
